LONDON: MQM Chief Altaf Hussain has said a revolution against the outdated feudal system is knocking at Pakistan's doorstep.

He said this while talking to different people at the MQM's London's secretariat.

Altaf urged the people of the country to play their role to bring about a change against feudalism.

He also the days of those who have looted the country are numbered.

The MQM chief has made repeated calls for a revolution over the last month. He has stated that feudals have been under the patronage of generals for the past 63 years. He has also said that feudals breached embankments to save their lands.

He said earlier that flood survivors should come out and seize the palaces and lands of the feudal lords; the people living out in the open should be lodged in these palaces.

Altaf Hussain also said that poverty and inflation have risen to a level where it is difficult to stop the way for a revolution. He called for bringing those who looted the national exchequer to justice.

His statement urging “any patriotic general” to take steps against corrupt politicians and feudalism has met with criticism from political parties.

PM Gilani said that he was unaware of the context in which the MQM chief asked the army to take action against corrupt politicians, whereas PML-N Chief Mian Nawaz Sharif said that statement was made with ill-intent.

Omar Khan | 14 years ago | Reply Hate to burst your bubble but the ingredients for a revolution are currently missing from the Pakistani Landscape. Most import thing one needs for the revolution is the self-awareness among the masses. Today 90% of Punjabis and Sindhi Masses are like Zombies. They have no clue about the direction and their rights in a democratic country. With no sense of purpose, no aim and no awareness, revolution is a farfetched thought. People of the largest province in Pakistan, Punjab have no history of standing up against the tyranny, it is just simply not a part of their genetic makeup. They are good subordinates and good hearted people, who would rather live by the philosophy of peace and harmony of Bulahy Shah than standup and destroy the oppression. They would rather be oppressed than fight against oppression. Look at the recent case in Pakistan and look at the past 500 years of history in Punjab. So forget the revolution. IF anything has to be done it has to be done by the MQM leadership. No body else is going to standup up with them, certainly not the people of Punjab, just because of the contempt they feel against Urdu speaking people.
