The world-number 53 Salazar tumbled out from the top half of the draw with an 11-8, 11-8, 11-4 loss to Butt, who is currently ranked 75. Butt will now face Shahier Razik, the top-seed from Canada, who defeated Joe Chapman of the British Virgin Islands with scores of 11-8, 11-7 and 11-6. Meanwhile, another Pakistan player Farhan Zaman was defeated 3-0 by UK’s Adrian Waller.
Zaman put up a bold fight in the first set, but his opponent resisted and in turn raised the bar of his game to eventually win by 14-12, 11-2 and 11-5.
