Mardan church hit by grenade attack

PESHAWAR:

Two policemen were injured in an attack on a local church in Mardan district early Monday, police said.

Unidentified persons, who were suspected to be militants, attacked the Sarhadi Church with hand-grenades around midnight, said a police official of Mardan Cantt police station.

Police said that the grenade was wrapped in a piece of cloth and lobbed at the gate of the church. The church’s gate and walls were damaged in the attack.

Two policemen on guard were injured and rushed to the Mardan City Hospital. One of them was identified as Fazl-e-Rabi.

Heavy contingents of police reached the spot and cordoned off the area. A search operation was also started. Police sources said that some suspects were taken into custody but it was not clear how many arrests were made.

Mardan is Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s second-largest city and also home to Chief Minister Ameer Haider Khan Hoti.

This is the second attack on a minority place of worship in Mardan in the past 10 days. Earlier, on September 3, a suicide bomber struck at the entrance of an Ahmadi worship place, killing a policeman and injuring five others during Friday prayers.

roland khairallah | 14 years ago | Reply It is too unfortunate to always hear and see that Muslims always seek for any reason or occasion whatsoever to strike the Christians and their churches and properties and burn their Holy Book all over the Islamic world . It is enough to anyone to look at the Christians monuments in the Islamic world to see this naked truth . All these cruel actions have always been taken against the Christians centuries ago and still . The Church , all over the world , have always been baptized with the Christian blood that have generated Saints all over the centuries . How can any man believe that Islam is a religion of peace and love , a religion of God like Islams always say , when we see them adopting hatred , terrorism , bloodshed , acts of violence , chaos , destruction ... etc ... and they commit it in every occasion whatsoever against their brothers the Christians to no end ? And we see none in the Islamic world who condemn seriously and strongly such insane violence in order to give a different picture of the Islam religion not only to the Christians but to the whole world as well . In the right teachings , God is a God of love and mercy and is also a God of justice to sinners who have always committed such acts of violence and never wanted to repent . I really wonder when the Muslims all over the world shall understand this truth and repent before it will be too late ? The last Judgment shall never be merciful to those who never repent in their lives . I strongly believe that Islams believe in God in a blind way backed with ignorance and so do Satan himself too , more than anyone do , but look what Satan do to human kind . He is the source of hatred , terrorism , bloodshed , acts of violence , chaos , destruction , war . killings , turning men against each other ... etc ... in the last Judgment what shall happen to him ? if he shall be condemned by God for committing these sins and shall be sent to eternal fire , then every man who do the same as Satan always did shall face the same end as well . I shall always pray to God for all those who kill in his name and follow Satan's will to have mercy on their lost souls , to put his light in their dark hearts in order to reject every evil teaching and will that they have adopted , to change their inner hell to inner heaven and make them learn how to live according to his will in peace and love and become the source of happiness and joy to every human being . Amen .
