MULTAN: Special Anti Corruption Judge Justice Ghulam Mustafa Nadeem on Wednesday cancelled the pre-arrest bail of a naib tehsildar and patwari for corruption and exceeding their jurisdiction and ordered their arrest. Muhammad Akbar, a resident of Multan, submitted an application in the Multan Anti-Corruption Department against a naib tehsildar and patwari for selling him government land for a bribe. He said he was looking to buy a piece of land near the National Highway near Multan. “I wanted to obtain a clearance from the Provincial Highway Department that the land was not their property,” he said. He said Naib Tehsildar Muhammad Younus and patwari Muhammad Mehboob asked for Rs100,000 to allow him to buy 10 square feet of extra land. “I bought the land but I was later informed by Provincial Highway Department officials that the 10 square feet of extra land was government property,” he said. Anti Corruption Police arrested the two men from court and will send them to jail today (Thursday).
