DIG Memon, who was reportedly transferred on Monday, may be facing the repercussions of his statement in the Supreme Court against policeman Waseem alias Waseem ‘beater’, who has allegedly received out-of-turn promotions and has been accused of operating a gambling network in Karachi.
Nearly three years ago, he was first transferred to the Sindh Reserve Police (SRP) when he was DIG Hyderabad. This transfer resulted, most likely, from an inquiry report he submitted in the high court on bloodshed between two groups in rural Sindh - one group belonged to Sindh chief minister special assistant Ismail Dahri. In his inquiry report, Memon informed the court that all the cases were fake and registered against the rival group on behest of Dahir’s side.
He was then transferred from the SRP to Balochistan, because he allegedly refused to recruit men on the request of some government officials.
Around 10 months ago, he was posted as DIG Crime in Karachi and has now been transferred to the federal interior ministry. DIG Memon was not aware of his transfer when approached for comments.
