Football: ‘Lampard not to be offered contract’
Frank Lampard’s agent has said that the midfielder will be leaving Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard’s agent has said that the midfielder will be leaving Stamford Bridge, when his contract expires this summer, according to Sky Sports. Lampard, who became the joint all-time leading scorer on 193 goals for Chelsea on Saturday, is understood to have been willing to take a pay cut. But Lampard’s agent, Steve Kutner, put to bed the rumours that a contract renewal was in the pipeline. “Chelsea executives told Frank in Japan during the Club World Cup, then again reconfirmed with me after the Everton victory that in no circumstances will he be offered a new contract to stay at the club after the end of this season,” said Kutner. “Nothing since has changed in any respect. Frank has had to accept that, and just wants to carry on playing football for Chelsea so as to finish the season as successfully as possible for the club that he loves.”
