Ahmad was a resident of Palosai village and had been deployed at the Tehkal police station. His family filed an FIR following his disappearance, after which police had been investigating the case.
An official of the Mathra police station said that locals informed them about a body that had been dumped in a deserted area in Sheikh Kallay.
“Jackals and animals had eaten the corpse so it was difficult to establish its identity but we found a police identity card in the pocket,” he said, adding that it was very difficult to say whether he had been shot or strangled because of the missing body parts.

“We are investigating the matter. It could be terrorism and it is also possible that the man had a personal feud,” he said, adding that village Palosai was notorious for the presence of kidnappers.
“We are waiting for the postmortem report,” the official added.
