The Pakistan Army repulsed the attack on the Sawan Patra checkpost in Kashmir, an army spokesman said in a statement.
The two sides then exchanged fire across the Line of Control, an internationally recognised line in the disputed Kashmir region patrolled by troops from both countries.

@HSK:what about bangladesh
Now and then It has become naive fashion in Pakistan to hint about Nuclear escalation by Private, Terrorist Jehadi, and State elements, this is a hint to suicide, as India is committed to No First Use Policy, but on a Pakistani nuclear strike, the seconder Indian Thermo Nuclear response will simply evaporate Pakistan from Map of Earth and will permanently settle the Kashmir dispute
Surprising to see how deep rooted is the hatred for each other in these two countries, even in the educated circles. Specially in India.Try to open your eyes and ears and see how your competitors China and Turkey are progressing and keeping good ties with their neighbors. India is a problem creator in South Asia for its neighbors. With great power comes great responsibility, but certainly not in India's case. Look at your huge size, population and resources and behave accordingly.
@Param:
I can understand. No issues. Just work a bit hard on your comprehension skills. It may take some time but have some patience. Perhaps it may be easier for you to understand a metallurgist, dubbed nuclear scientist on a water powered car.
@G. Din: You need to study some hard history of who was against the creation of Pakistan, and has been trying to wipe it out since its founding, rather than getting high on propaganda fed to you from the cradle to the grave!
@Vectra: Why can't Indians understand that lying will not enable them to continue Kashmir's occupation?
@Harshvardhan sharma: Thank you for admitting your role in 1971 when after failing to achieve your dream with Mukti Bahni terrorism, you had to invade Pakistan under the cover of USSR. Really brave to invade a country only one fifth your size, that too with Super Power support, and still you couldn't remove Pakistan from the map.
Given Indian actions of 1971, Pakistan is justified in all its actions against India.
Where ever & when ever hinduistanis want to play ball ........INSHAHALLAH we Pakistani will be there for their end. I promise this a true Pakistani Muslim.
@Truth detector: Why should India attack when Pakistan is determined to kill itself with so much sectarian killings. Pakistan Army's morale is also very low and it is just a coward army. All that is has done in all these years is capture Pakistan and brutalize its own citizens and promote terrorism and sectarian killings. Pakistan army has always started the war with India and every time their strategy was to hold on for no more than 6 days. This is all their capability. They were expecting that China or US will come to their aid and call for a ceasefire. It is the same army that refused to take back 2000 dead bodies of its own soldiers. Just 2 years back, a convoy of 120 well armed soldiers surrendered to a handful of talibans without firing a single shot. Talibans displayed the heads of the soldiers and the army could not even issue a condemning or threatening statement. Talibans kidnaped and killed over two dozen Pakistani soldiers and the Army could do nothing. They just kept quiet every time.
Also, this time the muslim world, even Iran and Afghanistan will side with India if Pakistan starts a war. Pakistan has no muslim country even as its friend. This has been so for many years. Pakistan proliferated nuclear technology to three countries of which two are muslim counties. Both these muslim countries provided proof of Pakistan's proliferation activities without which it would have been impossible to nail down Pakistan. So much for Pakistan's claim to belong to the muslim world.
On another note, Indian drones from Canada, UK and Switzerland are already targeting Pakistan.
@Raj - USA
Ok, then what is India waiting for? They should attack Pakistan & finish it once and for all. Problem solved.

@Nauman: For you and 236 who liked your comment. http://tribune.com.pk/story/486966/pakistans-shame-rape-cases-in-2012-timeline/
@Nauman: You are right, India should have Martial Law. Like Pakistan Army which punished the rapists of Mukhtaran Mai, Indian Army will also punish the rapists of Damini.
@Nauman: Sorry! I did not qualify the group of Taliban when I mentioned it. I meant to say - "The great state of Pakistan has been loosing soldiers to Pak-Taliban (or TTP) in 10′s and 20′s, and it is still nothing."
You see- Afghan Taliban killing Afghans = Good Taliban Pak Taliban killing Pakistanis = Bad, Bad, Bad - Taliban
Can we please not get our Talibans mixed up here? OK?
This is how I see it.
Pakistan may have tested nuclear weapons, however, it cannot make the bomb, even today. There are three main components which are, fissile material, triggering switch and the core of the bomb. Both India and Pakistan have the fissile material but I do not think either can make the fast switching switches without which the bomb cannot be detonated. They both may bave kept some switches in stock that they acquired from other countries. Both India and Pakistan are weak in the electronics manufacturing. So, both cannot make the switch. Pakistan got the core for testing its bombs from China in return for its gift of parts of the Kashmir region to China. This core was suspected to be that of an older design bomb that China had used in the 60's. Dr. Khan had also disclosed that China at that time even gave Pakistan 50 or 100 Kg. of enriched uranium (forgot the quantity he had mentioned) to conduct the tests. None of Pakistan's centrifuges were manufactured in Pakistan and most were manufactured in Malaysia as Pakistan lacks an industrial base to manufacture these precision components. India also lacks in this sector but is somewhat better than Pakistan and may have some capability. Plutonium bombs require much complex design and smaller size cores and this is the reason Pakistan could not produce plutonium bombs and India's plutonium bombs were also not that successful. Pakistan's missiles may be dubbed nuclear capable but its missiles cannot carry a bomb that could detonate, even today. Pakistan's nuclear capability is restricted only to manufacture of fissile materials that is has plenty in stock. This can be used to manufacture "dirty bombs". These can be carried on missiles or aircrafts but are not that destructive as the actual nuclear bombs. What the West is worried is that the terrorists in Pakistan may get their hands on the fissile material. If they get their hands on it, the first destruction will be within Pakistan only. Even the capacity of Pakistan to manufacture fissile material for the nuclear bomb is in doubt as Pakistan gave the technology to three countries and not even one of these three countries were able to go nuclear even after more than a decade. Even today, Iran is struggling to achieve 20% enrichment levels whereas effective nuclear bombs require 98% enrichment level.
So, the nuclear bomb is not that much feared by both Pakistan and India as Pakistan does not have it and India shall not use it for the first strike. So, any India/Pakistan war in the near future shall only be of conventional weapons where India has overwhelming advantage. This time (as always), in case of any India/Pakistan war, China will sit back and enjoy along with the rest of South Asia. They may not even come out with cursory statements. All other countries, including the Arab block and UN shall not move to push for a ceasefire.
However, no one can be 100% sure of the enemy's capability and wars are always destructive. India may be counting on US support also, in the event war breaks out between India and Pakistan. US knows the exact capability of Pakistan.
One thing is for sure. If there is a India/Pakistan war this time, this shall be last and final.
We all know which is the rogue army.... People who talks about the professionalism of paksitan's army should know that in last 65 yrs their only achievements are four coups.
@Maajid: Such retaliatory policy will save the Indian Army from the clutches of " reconciliation through markets " launched by Manmohan Singh's government. If US and Western arms industry is unhappy with our economy , it will do its bit to control Generals of India Inc. as well. And Generals of Pakistan are more amenable now to business advice than ever. Life with smaller dollar grants has been totally grey .Witness their reluctance to step in to end the low key civil war in Karachi !
Hukum Singh....... You are correct, and yet your govt accuses Pakistan of supporting Taliban.......it is your govt's twisted logic. Imagine things when Modi becomes the king......
@HSK: "Pakistan Army is one of the finest, well trained, professional and bravest armies in the world "
An army which lost more than half it's country's territory in 1971. Say hello to reality once in a while.
One dead soldier is nothing. The great state of Pakistan has been loosing soldiers to Taliban in 10's and 20's, and it is still nothing.
Perhaps the Indian army is better used protecting the women in Delhi.
@Harshvardhan sharma
u say pounding and I still remember 1971
Says plenty about your thinking
What u sow so u reap
@oops u say pounding and I still remember 1971
@HSK: " Pakistan Army is one of the finest, well trained, professional and bravest armies in the world without doubts -" Backed up by its "sterling" performance in all the wars it initiated - and lost!
@ endian army :- Don't even think of pushing the Pakistan Army against the wall. Because the Pakistan Army knows well how to give you losers a taste of your own medicine.
May be India is taking revenge of defeat in the cricket series .....
Let this be a lesson to all the peaceniks in Pakistan: You can only make peace with people who want to live in peace. With its illegal occupation of Kashmir, India continues to demonstrate that it does not want to live in peace with with Pakistan, and will use any and all sneaky tricks to nibble away at Pakistan, including but not limited to occupying Siachin Glacier, viollating Indus Waters Treaty, shooting down unarmed Pakistani aircraft inside Pakistani airspace, arming and funding Balochi terrorists from Afghanistan, arming and funding TTP, and Central Asian terrorists from Afghanistan, and of course now this killing of a Paksitani soldier by attacking the LOC, all resulting in spilling of Pakistani blood. For Pakistan its a case of "Aa bayl mujhe mar."
Before my Indian troll friends boast any more, Have a look at this :
@ Yoghurt lover
This is what happens when you try to push in terrorists.
Yeah if you call the pounding we gave you in the last two matches as terrorism
Trust everyone to express their opinion when none of the facts are actually known. Indian and Pakistani troops may be the finest in the world but Indan and Pakistani netizens have a long way to go!
@HSK:
Perhaps the two ODI defeats caused this. But interestingly, RAW sponsored TPP are creating havoc in Pakistan and yet the GOP/people and the finest Army have no conscience to fight against it. Finest? C-grade.
Cricket ka ghussa nikaal rahey hain!
Pakistan smashed all the illegal fences built by India during Musharraf era
This is what happens when you try to push in terrorists.
This Indian misadventure and provocation has been building slowly if you are following the developments in last 5 months. There have been many instances where Pak and India have been shelling each others posts and the last meeting of flag commanders (before this incident) from both sides underscores the seriousness of issue. So it's not about cricket match but a careful buildup of tension from Indian side.
Furthermore, it is clear that dialogue with India is a futile exercise and Pakistan needs to resume the policy of strategic pressure on India to moderate its actions in the region.
Why does ET print only one side of the story without bothering to find out what the Indian side says. The Indian side has said there was a ceasefire violation from the Pakistan side in order to create a diversion to facilitate Terrorist infiltration. And this is not the first time Pakistan army have done this.
why can't pakistan and pakistan army understand one thing that India will react on any minor and single issues on entire J&K since it is the integral part of India and pakistan should stop LOC violation first.
Lost money on cricket betting or building pressure on second front as told by US?
The whole world knows ... who is the cry baby ... and who is the trouble maker !!!
Perhaps the defeat in two ODI's was a bit too much for Hindustanis to digest. Pakistan Army is one of the finest, well trained, professional and bravest armies in the world without doubts -irrespective of what media projects them to be.
This is confirmed that India shall never admit and confess it but as usual shall accuse Pakistan of starting firing first on Indian posts on the border and this is the gift from India to Pakistan on giving India the Most Favorite Nation status.....

"The two sides then exchanged fire across the Line of Control, an internationally recognised line in the disputed Kashmir region patrolled by troops from both countries."
It was an "across the Line" fiiring. Indians killed one and injured another. How come that the Pakistani soldiers failed the same?
" two nuclear powers."
Why not simply two neighbours??
The photo graph is from Indian side of border.
It seems Pakistani army is trying to test the grit of indian army by indulging in small spurts of border shelling.
Good that indian army retialiated hard and gave back in full.
Lets see what pakistani bloggers have to say.
In the meantime... Misbah lifts the Cup in Delhi...
