Tennis: Williams wins title, Murray in final
Andy Murray will play Grigor Dimitrov in today’s final.
BRISBANE:
American Serena Williams demolished Russia’s Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova 6-2, 6-1 to win the Brisbane International. Williams served notice that she will be the one to beat at this month’s Australian Open with a ruthless display against Pavlyuchenkova. “That was really good,” said Williams. “I was looking at a lot of old matches on YouTube and I feel like right now I’m playing some of my best tennis.” In the men’s event, Andy Murray will play Grigor Dimitrov in today’s final, after his opponent retired in their semi-final due to injury. In his semi-final, Dimitrov overcame Marcos Baghdatis 6-3, 5-7, 7-6.
