Speaking at the annual celebrations of the district bar association at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal in Lahore on Saturday, Chief Justice Chaudhry said that due to change, democracy came in Pakistan.
The CJP said that now, only those who are elected into power will rule the country.
“The country will be ruled by the chosen representatives, that is those who come in through elections.”
“Governance will be based on the principle of democracy, freedom, equality, tolerance and social justice,” he added.

I wonder when this change in the CJ's thought process occurred and what triggered it. He had validated illegal seizure of power in 1999 by Pervez Musharraf.

Looks like all the stakeholders are converging on one point of democracy. Let us elect the best possible from what we have rather than going with the losers who have no chance except to come via backdoor.
A vast improvement in the quality of leadership will take place if good leaders are selected. You cannot elect good leaders. Madadgar Pakistan has a system to provide the best leadership ever.
WE pray that all judges should follow the footsteps of present CJ to bring stability in the country.
A very welcome statement by chief justice.
Something is definitely cooking behind the scenes, which is why everyone has started giving such statements.
Good to see that everyone wants democracy (except the army and the mullahs of course)
Dear Army, stop trying, the era of you ruling is gone. You need to accept that and let the people govern themselves.
Last of the stakeholders have also spoken. No place for Qadri in this country.
That is certainly a positive gesture from CJ and a strong signal to anti-democratic forces.
No one has been elected in Pakistan. Only selected.
