ISLAMABAD:

The bitter cold snap that has engulfed parts of the country is set to take a turn for the worse as the temperature is likely to drop further in the next few days, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD).

“The fog and cold is yet to increase in different parts of country, especially [in] different parts of Punjab,” Director General PMD Arif Mehmood told The Express Tribune.

Mehmood said, “Lahore, Faislabad, Sahiwal and Gujranwala and [other] connected cities would see a decrease in temperature in the coming days.”

Replying to a question about the severity of the weather compared to the current cold snap in India, which has claimed over 100 lives, he said: “I cannot compare the weather of [India] with Pakistan, but the cold [temperature] is the same as it has been here in the previous years.”
