Sweet auctions: Chocolate tree cake sold for Rs10,000

GUJRANWALA: A chocolate tree cake was auctioned on the first day of the New Year at Rs10,000. The cake was prepared by Huzaifa, who works at a bakery. He said it took him 10 hours to prepare the cake. The cake is a chocolate tree with colourful marzipan flowers, birds and alphabets saying: happy new year. He said he had spent Rs1,500 on the preparation of the cake and had initially priced it as Rs3,000. However, he said, after some colleagues and friends encouraged him to put it up for auction. The cake was sold at Rs10,000 within an hour. Huzaifa said he had also prepared cakes that looked like cars. He said he planned to attend a professional course in baking and set up his own bakery.
