
Shafiq says the girls were returning from the house of their teacher when the incident took place.
Witness Muhammad Shafiq said he was sitting in the Gud Malang Village ground along with other tribesmen when at around 4:20pm seven girls between the age of 5 and 12 were hit by the mortar shell.
Two girls died on the spot while the others sustained injuries.
Shafiq said the girls were returning from the house of their teacher when the incident took place.

He added that residents gathered at the ground after the attack and shifted the injured girls to a hospital in Peshawar.
The resident said that one girl was the daughter of Said Muhammad, who belongs to Malik Din Khel tribe while the other was the daughter of Aziz Zakha Khel.
On Monday evening, nine people of a family including women and children were severely injured when a stray shell hit a wagon in Akka Khel area.
