The hujra of a polio worker was destroyed by unidentified militants in Warmando Maina area of Tehsil Jamrud, Khyber Agency by two bombs planted around the building. The polio worker Ishfaq Afridi said that the blasts occurred around 12:30am. Four rooms were destroyed in the twin explosions. Afridi said that he has been involved in the anti-polio drive since eight years and his hujra was used for meetings and launching campaigns in Jamrud.


The last meeting was held on Monday morning, where participants discussed the upcoming campaign. He added that he never received a threat from any group. Assistant political Agent Jamrud Jehnagir Azam Wazir said that Ishfaq was only a volunteer and the incident should not be associated with the attacks on polio workers. He added that the owner of the house should not feel threatened. Meanwhile, surgeon Sameen Shinwari said that after the explosion in the area 30 school teachers and 93 volunteers refused to vaccinate children against polio in Jamrud.
