Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has asked the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to keep customs posts at the Pak-Afghan border open on all seven days of the week to facilitate transport of goods between the two countries.
He has asked the Ministry of Interior to place its personnel there to ensure that the posts remained fully functional and facilitate the shipment of goods across the border.
Ashraf also said Afghan businessmen travelling to Pakistan on valid visa should be exempted from police inquiry.
Responding to a complaint made by Afghan businesspersons that 3,000 Afghan containers were stuck at the Karachi seaport, the premier directed the FBR chairman to take up the issue with Afghanistan and get the containers released in 10 days.
He called for devising a mechanism to ensure that containers were cleared promptly in future and trade was not affected.
