According to the speaker’s media office, Mirza will visit the camps in Government High School, Badin, Peer Ahali Shah Stadium, Memon Community Centre, Golarthi, Government Islamia Degree College and Government Polytechnic Institute to distribute Eid gifts and relief items to the flood-stricken people.
On Thursday, Mirza met the administration of Thatta and Badin districts and directed them to ensure the provision of food, shelter, medicines and clothes to the affected people. She said that various philanthropist agencies, NGOs, individuals and government agencies were distributing relief items and stressed for coordination to ensure everyone got their due share.
Meanwhile, Punjab Senior Minister Raja Riaz Ahmed said that all provincial ministers of the Pakistan Peoples Party will spend Eidul Fitr in flood-hit areas. He said that following the prime minister’s orders, provincial minister Farooq Yusuf Ghurki would spend Eid in Bhakkar, Haji Muhammed Ishaq in Mianwali, Dr Tanvirul Islam in Layyah, Tanvir Ashraf Kaira in Muzaffargarh and Muhammed Ashraf Sohna in Rajanpur. Raja added that he would spend Eid in DG Khan district.
Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani also issued directives to all corps commanders, formation commanders, military officers and jawans to celebrate Eidul Fitr with austerity and with flood survivors. (With additional input from agencies)
