Pakistan must come up with a plan to use Irfan's height: Inzamam

Inzamam believes that the person who could have made a difference in the match was Shahid Afridi.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s former captain and batting consultant for the national cricket team Inzamamul Haq has said that Twenty20 captain Hafeez can hold his head high for the way his team performed in the two matches, and that ODI skipper Misbahul Haq has a lot of positives to carry forward.

According to Hindustan Times on Monday he said that a few things could still be done better.

In his opinion, Pakistan lost their grip on the second match in the last three overs of India's innings. In the 18th and 19th overs, Yuvraj and Dhoni put on 40-oddruns to help India post nearly 200, he said.

Meanwhile Yuvraj was fantastic, and the Pakistan bowlers allowed him to free his arms.

The veteran cricketer added that you need to cramp big hitters to keep them quiet.

While chasing, Pakistan looked in command till the sixth over. But for the next five overs, the batsmen, for some reason, allowed the pace of scoring to fall, after which they never caught up with the asking rate.

Inzamam was of the opinion that the person who could have made a difference in the match was Shahid Afridi. A quick 15-20 from him would have seen Pakistan romp homewith ease.

Inzamam further said that Pakistan needs to have a plan for using the tall Irfan. In both the games, he finished his quota of overs early. Had he been available later, he could have thwarted the Indian onslaught.
