Low intensity bomb: Blast targets Shama Cinema

The cinema’s gate and boundary wall were partially destroyed.

PESHAWAR: Another cinema in the city was targeted when a low intensity bomb planted at its main gate went off, partially damaging the building. The blast occurred at the gate of Shama Cinema near Bacha Khan Square, a crowded area of the city. However, no human loss was reported. The cinema’s gate and boundary wall were partially destroyed, while the sound of the blast could be heard miles away. Police and Bomb Disposal (BDS) Squad rushed to the site following the incident and surrounded the area. According to the BDS, 200 grammes of explosives were used in the bomb and the motive behind the blast was to create panic.
