Public misery: Protest against gas, power outages

MULTAN: A number of citizens demonstrated against gas and power load-shedding at Chungi 9 on Tuesday. The demonstration was organised by the Muttahida Shehri Mahaz and led by Tariq Naeemullah Khan. The demonstrators blocked the Chungi road and burned tyres. Talking to the media, they said neither domestic nor commercial users were being supplied gas in Multan. They said the power-loom industry was at the brink of disaster because of the lack of power. The situation was so grave that the power-loom owners were looking for some other businesses. They said they would lay siege to Wapda and Sui gas offices unless gas and power load-shedding was stopped immediately.
