Wali was speaking at a press conference in Peshawar in relation to ANP leader Bashir Ahmed Bilour who was killed in a suicide attack.
Emphasising his willingness to talk to forces that agree to shun violence, Wali said that the ANP will be forced to call for action against violent elements.
“If we want to save democracy, we need to devise a policy against terrorism,” Wali stressed.
Speaking about the urgency for such action, the ANP chief said people of Pakistan need to unite against the terrorists and play their role.
He further added that the fight against terrorism is not one party’s fight and that everyone should come forward and work out a strategy for this purpose.
Praising the media for its coverage of recent events, Wali said the fight against terrorists cannot be fought without media’s help.

As you have sown so shall you reap.Taliban are the kids and impatient assets of the yesterday army. Since long Pakistan Army along with foreign support have been destroyed the future and lives of thousand and thousand of kids and youngs; first financing, training and equipped them, have been using them as buffer forces and non state actors for long at various fronts. Then after the collapse of their agenda these traditional forces have been started blaming and eliminating through various propaganda and conflicts. The today crisis and undirectional policies are the birth of the army, their misleading policies without any intellectual and long term potential strategies. While blaming those innocents who lives, future and families have already been destroyed, who never born with guns nor revealed from the skies, who were born like us But had taught how to use guns and bombs instead of giving pen and paper then were used and now defused instead of peaceful and timely transition, through education and understanding with time. It's seems totally hypocrisy, contradiction in so called policies and double standards. Few years back during a non civilian govt. a question was asked from that time Interior or Foregin Minister that after the resolving the issues of Kashmir and Russia-Afghanistan war what will be the future of these own trained and equipped kids now fighters? (called Taliban)…….It that time the response was ambiguous But now its clear that what's the choice (negative approach). While in history the number of sacrifices and struggles of yesterday Heros and todays terrorists are invaluable for both Pakistan and US and were in the best interest of today world peace i.e. there is no Russian in South Asia. Further in Pakistan each and every political party had participated in the establishment of the Taliban it the time of need. Similarly each and every political party has their violent political wings in the form of political worker, jeyala,……..for years each and every political party violating merit giving preference to own worker or party members, killing each other political worker, innocent people, corruption of billions and billions of rupees, people dying of hunger, lack of shelter, medicine and basic needs. While five percent of those landlords, bureaucrats, politicians and chiefs living luxury life, putting billions of billions in their foreign accounts, trashing tonnes of food, busy in political rivalry and political killing, no tax payment, no respect for elders, no standards for the higher ups, P,PM, MNA, MPA, each year bogus budging figures against the grounds crisis, no timely and easy approach for justice except using power and money, raping reported and hidden (both male and female), acid attacks, robberies, killing each other, violation of rule and law by the law makers themselves, political workers and their so called leaders, dishonesty, no national and constitutional right and respect for humanity. In fact this a huge mob of the people having no direction and path to follow.
I have been living in Pakistan for over a year but there is little I can say to understand, except that the Pashtoons are getting raped by this country - best support ANP, vote for those who provide the dead bodies, not those who speak out justifying the killers, thats my own take on things.... not that its my business.
@bhatti -- so Bashir Bilour was "hiding" in Islamabad or Malaysia when he was killed? I know you are ignorant please don't tell everyone on this forum!
@Sufi:
First you said Asfandyar is corrupt .. then you said Hoti is corrupt now you're saying whole of ANP is corrupt? Mate which one is it ... make up your mind. I never said Hoti's are not corrupt .. Every one knows Azam Hotti did corruption in heaps and bounds but saying whole of ANP is corrupt is total unjust .. besides as I said in my previous comment .. When in War you don't start finger pointing .. If you think they're corrupt don't ever vote them but it's a discussion about getting rid of those savages who're hiding in our tribal areas and are at war with us, it's about saving our country not a politician or a party.
@naeem khan Manhattan,Ks:
I didn't know that politicians roam around with chairs stuck to their backside .. Use your imagination buddy .. He just like any one else doesn't go to a press conference or rally with a chair taken from his house. Tax collection & imposition is responsibility of government in the center .. I have never heard CBR issuing any letters to them for non payment of tax .. Have you? No one can every call Wali Khan family as corrupt .. Yes Hoti of Mardan are corrupt and every one knows about that.
When he was just 20 years old during British raj he built first school in Uthamzai Charsadda and visited over 500 villages to create awareness in fight against the Raj. Spent 2-3rd of his life behind the bars even after creation of Pakistan just because he opposed military rulers and politicians based on principled stand.
We may well differ politically although I'm not their follower or of any other political party since none of them have correct manifestos but you are just diverting the topic here .. It's not about what they or any other politician has done or not but its a discussion for the survival of our society, way of life, peace and Pakistan itself against those repressive forces who want to destroy everything we have just to impose their views upon us and then run and hide in another rat hole if again are challenged by US or any other country but only once our society has been turned in to stone age era. We must be united against these savages no matter on who's call .. no matter how corrupt or incompetent that politician is in your views but once its war you don't start finger pointing you just stay united and focus on eliminating these enemies of this country instead of wasting your energies on conspiracy theories & all.
He is saying write
And saying ANP is not corrupt is like saying ISI is the second best agency in the world after mossad which we all know is completely false. Keep on living in a fools paradise. I would like to see you Baba easy load. I rest my case. Owned!
@khan
I never said i was against the operation. You just assumed it like you presummed a vast patrimony left for the stepson i.e Asfand. Get your facts straight, the biggest land owner in KP was the nawab of hoti, who too unlike the big punjabi landlords had less than 20 squares because of land reforms. Charssada on the other hand have smaller landholdings, Ghaffar khan political prowess aside- he was less greedy a person compared to his current off springs. Reality is based on perception i know, but you have found an uncanny way to conjure up things to justify an ill done by someone.
@omair shahid:
Ever wondered why is that? Its due to lack of comprehensive policy .. If there are snakes in your backyard and you leave half of them and catch just a couple then wondering why are snakes still coming in to your house then blame yourself for your failure. We need to close our Western border to stop flow, influx and escape route, Send back Afghan refugees and clean FATA from all foreigners and also stop our "good" people who cross over and then run back to hide in their sanctuaries and get rid of all their leaders, sympathizers and those right wing politicians or so called religious leaders who confuse our own people by creating conspiracy theories. Only that is the final and longer term solution for a progressive peaceful society.
@abdul rahim bhatti: No provice should be ever made on ethnic or linguistic basis as that creates fissure and secessions in a country. NWFP was renamed because majority of local populace wanted to rename it who had voted ANP not a single time but again and again throughout the history and its name was agreed upon unanimously in the center too. Secondly because NWFP was not a name it just referred to a North Western Frontier area. That's the reason IMHO although Punjab needs to be made in to smaller provinces but not a Seraiki province based on linguistic reasons.
@Sufi:
What nonsense .. Asfandyar comes from a family of landlords .. either you do not know his family or may be you're one of those hidden hand of the people who attacked Mr Bilour as seen from the previous pattern that whenever they hit us like cowards .. after few days or weeks theirs sympathizers would swamp online discussion forums to defend them or any actions that we would want to take against them, through their conspiracy theories and defamation campaigns. Wali Khan family are Khans of Charsadda from centuries and has been in government from before the Partition and are well known to be fair and are not corrupt.
@omair shahid: For 8 years we are trying to put bandage on something while the cancer is growing somewhere else. We need to attack their headquarters, and their safe heavens, in north waziristan. Curtail their breeding grounds in Punjab and elsewhere. Counter their sympathizers and apologists in urban centers. Eliminate rogue elements within security apparatus. This is a long drawn war with the criminals who want to impose their imported ideology of hate and terror on peace loving innocent people of Pakistan comprising muslims and non muslims. In the end, the war may take an entire generation or even a century, but there is no way out.
Just look at the throne like chair he is sitting and those who are gunge ho about supporting these so called leaders of the Pukhtun people( I am a Pukhtun from Mardan) should look at their record, they have amassed millions abroad and don't pay any income taxes at home of their earnings and then they are talking about law and order and all that crap coming out from their mouths. That great leader Gaffar Khan has not done anything for the nation of Pukhtuns either, he got millions from India( some peace prize money ) but did he build a school, hospital, orphanage or even a medical dispensary for the Pukhtun people and above all he wanted to be buried in India but opted for Afghanistan. There is no end to gullible people in KP. People don't know how this so called leader was wined and dined in Washington DC when he was here and what did he promise the Americans in return. Look into it.
Not just with guns, the state should use even carpet bombing if needed to eliminate the hinde outs of these coward terrorists who are involved in target killing of innocent citizens.
There is nothing to negotiate about. Just launch the damn operation. How many Pakistanis have to die before decisive action is taken. Yes, Pakhtuns are Pakistanis, and very good Pakistanis at that.
@abdul rahim bhatti: Typical PML-N mindset: Ask their position on combating terrorism, and they talk about everything from Karachi, Balochistan, corruption, Hazara, America, Conspiracy theories, etc. and nothing about condemnation of the terrorists. They are hand-in-glove with TTP, and provide the main breeding grounds to the terrorists.
@History: And whose "freedom fighters" are these criminals, who are indiscriminately slaughtering men, women, and children, creating an environment of terror, and oppression? Your argument goes down the gutter, as these "freedom fighters" have complete freedom and control over North Waziristan; yet they choose to attack the innocents throughout Pakistan. And then you talk about injustice, while blatantly ignoring the rights of their victims. Fact of the matter is that all rightwingers are more interested in the rights of the terrorists, instead of their innocent victims and this is shameful.
@Jibran: for almost 7 to 8 years we are fighting this war and we have gone nowhere first we need to get the support of northern area than only we can win.
@abdul rahim bhatti: <- The arguments of this person are as ridiculous as the connotation of his last name.
@Pathan voice
I know how they stood firm against TTP by staying in Islamabad and Malaysia lol. Only poor people suffer.
Absolutely no talks with these killers. Talking to these terrorists is against the core principle of justice in Islam. They have created mayhem in the world of God, terrorized and slaughtered innocent men, women and children. Only the relatives of the victims have the right to forgive their heinous crimes. A right wing party claiming to call itself a "justice" movement (Pakistan Tahrik-e-Insaf) has no right to impose a gross injustice to the victims.
@bhatti - no party has stood firm against the TTP like the ANP. You can talk all you want but this is a fact proven by the number who have been slaughtered.
Human history is full of different forms of challenging so called writ of the Government? But people can’t learn from history? So called challenging writ of the Government has always been exists throughout human history. But it has always been due the long term injustice, suppression, invasion, power in few hands and challenging the diversity of life. In very recent history as had happened during 1857 the India's first war of Independence; termed Sepoy Riots by the British was an attempt to unite India against the invading British and to restore power to the Mogul emperor Bahadur Shah. Similarly the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre (1919) and all other historical incidences occurred until 1947 the independent of India and Pakistan. After 1947 the four war between India and Pakistan until now and may be in future. Wasn’t all that historical incidents had happened; had challenged the writ of that times rulers or Government (British or else)? Basically in human world throughout the history the so called writ of the government exists in one form or other; while it depends on choice or propaganda to name what, who challenge the writ of government? a terrorist, a freedom fighter, a revolutionist etc. For one group of people simple a freedom fighter while for the next is a terrorist. And about those who really challenged or challenging the writ of Allah/God like; Feron, the Bani Israel etc? So who is who and what is what? Basically human by psychopathic nature has always been egocentric, need power, superiority and suppression of weaker, fame, popularity, own rules and as mostly doing or repeating historical mistakes. Basically there will be no challenge of the writ of the government if there is a true system of justice for all.
About time ANP announces zero tolerance for terrorism! If Bashir Bilour's martydom goes in vain this nation will never forgive ANP and PPP.
Operation in Miramshah and Mir Ali and every nook and corner of the country harboring Taliban and their supporters, now or never!
if ANP is really worried about the ordinary people then they should support the Hazara-province struggle and show themselves as champion of Human rights.
wow ANP has always been on ethnic politics, they shame themselves to be called as Pakistani as we know the history of Wali khan and bacha khan. Now they ask whole pakistan to support them ? must be kiddling. they are just worried about their vote bank this time and trying to create a soft image of themselves as their role in current govt. is just clear and vivid. Killing innocent people in Karachi for political gain now they are talking about unity against Taliban ? just wow.
Down with terrorists. They are the enemies of humanity. Pakistani agencies must immediately disown terrorists, otherwise we Pakhtuns will be compelled upon, to consider that the friends of our enemies (ISI-Taliban nexus) can't be our friends, but our bitter enemies. It will be in the best interests of Pakistan, if ISI change its policy of nurturing Talibans who are everyday killing Pakhtuns, and destroying our schools. If Pakistani establishment is adamant to keep their anti Pakhtuns policy of supporting Taliban, then the other there are also the other options with us. That will be outside the domain of Pakistan.
I voted for Asfandyar myself, but shame be on him. Am an eye witness to the journey travelled from a mud hujra to the welth stashed in Dubai and Malaysia. The great Ghaffar and Wali khan would be twisting/turning in their graves today. Somewhere down the line the Hoti's were able to influence him to join hands with them in a massive corruption spree.
Though the death of Mr Bilour is sad...but never seen / observed the ferocity in campaign against terrorism such as this time, though many such loss of human lives of ordinary people in Peshawar had taken place....just because he was such an important figure ?
