KURRAM AGENCY: Ten people were killed and six injured in an explosion next to a vehicle in Dol Ragha in Kurram Agency.
There are reports that the explosion occurred from a landmine planted on the road. The vehicle was completely destroyed as a result of the explosion. The injured have been shifted to the district headquarters hospital. Authorities fear that casualties may rise.
Security forces have cordoned off the area after the blast and started investigations.
The explosion comes days after a similar incident in which a militants' convoy was hit by a roadside bomb at Mirandi Road in Central Kurram.
At least 12 militants were killed in the blast and several were injured.
The last few days have seen a spike incidents of violence in the region. The area which is an important strategic location has been plagued by sectarian violence in the recent past.
Analysts say there is a possibility that the attacks are a retaliation against the security forces' operation against militants in the region.
