Indonesian fabric: Artist shows how to make ‘batik’

KARACHI: Indonesian artist Vanny Alamsyah demonstrated how to make ‘batik’, a traditional Indonesian fabric, at the Indonesian consulate on Monday. The event was inaugurated by the Indonesian Consul General Rossalis R Adenan and attended by a number of people, including arts students and diplomats. In Indonesia, batik has become a part of our national, individual and corporate identities, said Adenan, adding that it was named a ‘Masterpiece of Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity’ by the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation on October 2, 2009.
