ZTBL’s Iftikhar Ali Khan gave them the lead with his strike in the 11th minute of the match. NBP’s Adam Hameed equalised the score in the 60th minute and Farooq Shah scored the winner in the 79th.
With the win, NBP replaced Navy in sixth position with 34 points after playing 25 matches, while ZTBL, who faced their ninth defeat of the season, remained in the 14th spot with 20 points after 24 matches.
NBP now have a relatively easier run in the PPFL and coach Nasir Ismail hopes that will help them regain their position among the top five teams.
“We have matches against Wohaib FC and PMC Athletico, who have struggled with their form in the league this season and we are also hoping to win against Wapda,” Ismail told The Express Tribune.
“Apart from these, the toughest would be against KRL next month, but if we can get points in those three matches, I am sure we will end the season among the top five teams. So far I’m satisfied with the way we have played.”
Meanwhile, ZTBL have lost all of their three matches they have played away from home in Karachi and coach Najeebullah Najmi admitted that his team needs to do well on their travels.
“It’s true that we need to survive here and get results away from home,” said Najmi. “It’s our first season in the league and the competition will only get tougher as we move forward.
“I believe that the players are getting a little tired and fatigued. Our target now is to at least get a draw in the upcoming matches against PIA and Baloch FC in Noushki.”
