KARACHI: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ebad Khan has said a handful criminals are trying to give a bad name to Karachi, the economic hub of Pakistan. “This all is being done under a pre-planned conspiracy to destabilise the country,” he said while speaking to a delegation of traders led by Jameel Paracha, the vice-chairman of All Karachi Tajir Ittehad, which called on him at the Governor House on Saturday. The governor said the criminal elements have deliberately created a law and order situation by starting targeted killings and fomenting ethnic and sectarian violence. Police with the help of law enforcement agencies have contained the extortion menace and the government would bring back peace to The City of Lights, he added. While briefing the traders about the security measures taken in Old City areas, Ebad assured them that more police pickets would be established and patrolling will be enhanced. The Sindh inspector general of police, Fayyaz Leghari, Karachi Commissioner Hashim Raza Zaidi and Citizens-Police Liaison Committee chief Ahmed Chinoy were also present at the meeting.
