Road accidents: Two killed, 21 injured in separate incidents

Kohat police arrest one van driver, impound vehicle.

At least two people were killed and 21 injured in separate incidents on Friday.


At least two persons were killed in separate road accidents in Haripur. Police said Muhammad Miskeen was ploughing the field near Klinger when his tractor overturned, killing him on the spot.

Meanwhile, Ehtasham, 7, was crossing the road near City Police Station when a speeding car ran over him, killing him on the spot. Police have registered cases and started investigations.

In another incident, a passenger van heading from Peshawar to Bannu plunged into a deep ravine near Totakai area of Karak early in the morning, injuring all 12 people on board.

Kismat Khan an official of the Khurram police station told The Express Tribune that he got a call at 7am from Sajid Shafi, a resident of Speen Bhanda, who said he had been injured in a road accident. He said the police reached the scene and shifted all the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu. The official said that according to information gathered from the passengers, the accident occurred due to speeding.

In another incident, nine people were injured when a speeding Toyota Hiace passenger van rammed into a Suzuki pickup on the Indus Highway in Kohat. The injured were taken to Kohat Divisional Hospital where they are receiving treatment.

Police said the Hiace driver was trying to escape but passenger took hold of him and handed him over to the police. The police also took the Hiace van into custody.
