Pakistan is assuming the office of the UN Security Council Presidency from January 1, 2013. Pakistan’s permanent representative to UN, Ambassador Masood Khan held a meeting with the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon and apprised him of the agenda items to be considered during Pakistan’s presidency of Security Council. According to the Pakistani Mission, the ambassador informed the Secretary General that Pakistan had planned to hold two open debates on counter-terrorism and UN- peacekeeping. He said the foreign minister of Pakistan would preside over the first event on January 15.
