KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain has called on his party to drop all protests against the Supreme Court.

The apex court had issued a contempt of court notice against Altaf for his remarks against the judiciary in his December 2 speech in Karachi.

On Tuesday, the MQM chief called on all organisational units of the party to show patience and cancel all protests against the judiciary, and to refrain from using any derogatory language against it.

He also called on party workers to not converge at the Supreme Court on January 7 – the day he has been asked to appear before the court – and to only let MQM’s constitutional and legal experts appear.

Altaf said he did not want to ruin the sanctity of the court and did not want to take the path of confrontation.

@Bilal: "Mqm Is voice of minorities : Shias, Hazaras, Hindus, Christians, Ahmadis." as well as mine, I'm a simple, plain, but educated & thinking Pakistan loving and tolerant Pakistani the smallest minority over here and I'm the most endangered community who MQM represents.
