KARACHI: Pakistan’s upcoming middle-order batsman Haris Sohail became doubtful for the India tour yesterday following an injury during the training camp currently underway in Lahore, according to a senior team official.

Sohail, who is yet to represent Pakistan at the international level, suffered a blow to his ankle during a practice session on Saturday. He had to sit out yesterday’s training as a result.

“Sohail will undergo scans on his ankle,” the official told The Express Tribune. “The injury kept him out of training yesterday and his fate for the upcoming series will be decided today after a thorough medical examination.”

The 23-year-old from Sialkot paved his way into the team for the One-Day International (ODI) series against India after a remarkable performance in the current domestic season. He was also a part of the Pakistan Twenty20 squad for Sri Lanka tour earlier this year, but did not get a chance to play.

Warm-up matches begin today

The official added that the players preparing for the India tour will play three 50-over warm-up fixtures during the training camp.

The first warm-up match  will be played today while the second will take place on December 19. The third and final fixture before their departure has been planned for December 20.

“Most of the players were a part of this month’s National Twenty20, so they have plentiful experience of playing in this format,” said the official.
