Wedding blues: Ban on opening new marriage halls

Hyderabad Metropolitan Corporation administrator condemns increasing incidence of aerial firing in weddings.

HYDERABAD: The administrator of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Corporation, Syed Barkat Ahmed Rizvi, banned the opening of new marriage halls and lawns in the city on Friday. He also directed the owners of marriage halls to remove all encroachments outside their premises within the next 15 days. According to Rizvi, the mushrooming of wedding lawns has had a negative impact on the city’s infrastructure. He also directed the owners of marriage halls to strictly follow the official directives of closing them by midnight. Condemning the increasing incidence of aerial firing and firework display in weddings, he told officers of district police to take action against the individuals involved in such acts.
