Militants’ attack: FWO employee killed in N Waziristan

MIRAMSHAH: A Frontier Works Organization (FWO) employee was killed and three injured when unidentified militants opened fire at them in North Waziristan Agency’s Mir Ali Tehsil on Wednesday, a security official said. The FWO staff members were working near the Khajori check post when the incident occurred. Earlier in the day, a FWO vehicle came under attack in Miramshah, the main of the agency, but no one was killed.   “Security forces at the check post retaliated to the (earlier) attack, forcing the militants to flee,” another official said. FWO personnel have been attacked several times in the past. On September 3, two FWO personnel were injured when an improvised explosive device exploded near their vehicle on Miranshah-Bannu Road while on the same day, the driver of the FWO vehicle was kidnapped from Ghulam Khan tehsil. On September 16, three FWO personnel were kidnapped by unidentified people in the same area, although they were later recovered.
