LAHORE:

A petition has been filed at the Lahore High Court, challenging the appointment of Salman Farooqi as federal ombudsman.

Peer Ali Imran said in the petition that the appointment of Farooqi had been made on political grounds and in violation of merit.

The petitioner said 75,000 cases against the federal government were pending in the office of the federal ombudsman and the government wanted to delay these.

He requested the court to set aside the notification of Farooqi’s appointment by declaring it illegal and against the Constitution.
