Political rally: JI is little more than an NGO, says Maulana Fazl Rehman

SHERGARH: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazalur Rehman ruled out the possibility of a coalition with the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in the upcoming elections, saying that the JI has lost its political worthiness and that it was little more than an NGO.

While addressing a mammoth gathering in Shergarh on Sunday, Fazl argued that his party struggled for five years inside and outside the parliament, therefore accepting half of the seats from other parties to contest the polls was unacceptable.

Speaking about Malala Yousafzai, he added that they have expressed sympathy for the teenager, but western countries want to impose their agenda by expressing solidarity with the girl .

Fazl criticised the incumbent government saying the rulers have failed to deliver what they had promised. “If the JUI-F reaches the power corridors in the next elections, our utmost priority would be to resolve public problems.

“Anti-Islam elements are bent upon tarnishing the image of seminaries in Pakistan,” he added.

He claimed that his party is like a shield to block the passage of any un-Islamic law by parliament. In the presence of JUI-F, the government cannot legislate in violation of Islamic principles, he said.

Fazl said that religious scholars and Taliban did not impose any war on the country rather the country paved the way for the prevailing mayhem and chaos that is rife in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

Former chief minister Akram Khan Durrani, central vice chief Maulana Attaur Rehman, Maulana Gul Naseeb and a majority of the party leadership were present.
