Visit: Chinese delegation admires Lok Virsa heritage museum

ISLAMABAD:

A Chinese delegation visiting the Lok Virsa Heritage Museum on Sunday was impressed with the portrayal of Pakistan’s cultural affinity with China.

Lu Shumin, vice president of the Chinese People’s Institute of Foreign Affairs (CPIFA), headed the delegation.

Museum officials received Shumin, and the Chinese delegation accompanying him, and gave them a tour of the place. Shumin admired the museum’s “Link Passage to China” hall. The hall houses artefacts and exhibits donated to the museum by the Chinese government.

The delegation also liked the dioramic display on “Sufis and shrines” at the museum, which depicts the contribution of Sufi saints to the history of Islam in the subcontinent.

Lok Virsa’s executive director Khalid Javaid and other museum officials briefed Shumin and his entourage on Pakistan’s tangible and intangible cultural heritage as well as the functions of Lok Virsa.

Javaid said Pakistan values the cultural exchanges with China especially interactions between the craftspeople, folk artists, instrumentalists and musicians of the two countries. The delegation also saw a short live folk musical show towards the conclusion of its visit. The visit was coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Chinese embassy.
