PTI election campaign to kick off on Dec 10

Information secretary says PTI will be using party resources to fund campaign, unlike other major political parties.

LAHORE:

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) will start its multi-phased mass campaign for the general elections from the 10th of this month, party officials told The Express Tribune.

Chairman Imran Khan is to visit rural areas to meet workers and voters.

The campaign, the first phase of which will end on December 20, will kick off from south Punjab, said Information Secretary Shafqat Mehmood.

“The time has come to mobilise the masses to vote for change,” Mehmood added.

According to the schedule, Khan, along with Vice Chairmann Shah Mehmood Quershi, President Javed Hashmi and Jahangir Tareen, will visit Lodhran on Dec 10.

The next day, the leaders will visit Layyah, Muzaffargarh and Multan districts and meet party workers, Mehmood said.

Khan will give guidelines to the workers and office bearers for the general elections. The PTI chairman, he said, wanted to meet ‘the common man’ and hear what kind of change he wants.

From South Punjab, the leaders will go to Islamabad for an “important meeting” in which the party’s strategy for the elections will be discussed.

On December 15, the party leadership will visit Gujranwala and Lahore. Khan will then go to Sindh on December 20, where he plans on addressing a public gathering at Sukkur.

The information secretary said that the PTI would be using party resources to fund the campaign, unlike other major political parties that were using the public money to fund their campaigns.
