SANJARPUR: A woman who had told the police on Saturday that her husband had killed her 13-month-old daughter in a rage on Tuesday retracted her statement in front of reporters. Talking at the local press club, Anwar Bibi said that her husband Mohammad Latif had not killed their child. She said the child had had an epileptic attack and died. Anwar Bibi said that though she had had an argument with her husband, it was untrue that he had killed their daughter. She blamed “rivals” for “spreading rumours”, though she did not say who. When asked that neighbours and family members had told reporters that Latif was possessed by evil spirits, she replied, “Yes, that is true. He is possessed. But he did not commit murder.”
