WANA: Two suicide bombers rammed their explosives-laden vehicle into the gate of an army base in Wana, killing at least one soldier and wounding eight, security officials said on Wednesday.

The attackers, who drove in from Afghanistan, were stopped before they could get into the camp in Wana, where thousands of soldiers are stationed, army officials said.

"Security forces intercepted the car and opened fire as it neared the camp. The two men then blew themselves up," said one army official who declined to be identified.

Earlier, a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a checkpoint outside a police station in Bannu, wounding six people.

General Kiyani is directly responsible for this loss of soldiers, for not going into offensive and derooting the menace.Nation will never forgive him for this.

The recent increase in the frequency of suicide attacks on security forces must be the last ditch attempt by the cornered terrorists. Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the soldier who lost his life defending his post, and we pray for a fast and complete recovery of the injured. The terrorists are enemy of peace everywhere and they target anyone who is working and striving to bring about sustained peace in the region. This common enemy is using teenage suicide bombers to carry out their evil deeds. We support the Pakistani security forces in their quest to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the region.
