This is the third such happening for the CID’s ATC wing. According to police officials, Inspector Rehmat of the CID ATC had raided Saeedabad and arrested a man believed to be a Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militant. The accused was detained in the ATC at Garden Headquarters. However, the militant managed not only to open his handcuffs but also escaped from the building without being noticed.
According to officials, the incident has been followed by an investigation into how the suspect managed to escape when the room in which he was being kept was locked from the outside.
A few weeks ago a police mobile unit was stolen from Tariq Road and has yet to be found. Meanwhile, an ATC team arrested two police officers, who were accused of injuring two people during a raid ordered by a judicial magistrate. The police were allegedly receiving bribes when the raid took place. These police officials too managed to escape from the CID office and are yet to be located.
Officials claim that these officers have been removed from duty.
