Bakhtawar advised not to visit flood-hit areas

Bakhtawar Bhutto, wanted to visit flood-hit areas in Sindh but has been advised against it due to security fears.

KARACHI: The president’s daughter, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari, wanted to visit flood-affected areas in Sindh but has been advised by party workers against it due to security fears.

This information was disclosed by federal minister Shagufta Jumani, in a press briefing after a seminar by Save the Flood Victims at Bilawal House on Monday. Bakhtawar presided over the event.

Participants at the meeting discussed the condition of flood survivors in Sindh and rehabilitation efforts being undertaken. Others present included Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Sindh general secretary Taj Haider and PPP women’s wing president MNA Faryal Talpur.

Jumani said that they had focused on the condition of pregnant women and children living in relief camps and how they can be helped. Bakhtawar had stressed that flood survivors must be given all possible help. Members of the PPP youth wing will provide relief goods to people in relief camps as well as those camped out on the roads, she added.

Asra | 14 years ago | Reply Perhaps if Daddy Dearest had been here to show solidarity with his suffering countrymen instead of waltzing off to Europe and lounging around his palatial French chateau when millions of poor Pakistanis were losing their entire worldly possession to the floods, there wouldn't have been such a security threat to Bakhtawar.

I think Pakistan needs new crop of leaders, & no Sir, not the current leaders’ offspring’s. We need to get out of this dynastic rule.

As much as I know, Bakhtawar is a daughter of Shaheed Ms. Benazir Bhutto, grand daughter of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, they were not coward, they both embraced martyrdom. Being chief reporter Associated Press of Pakistan, I happened to work with Shaheed BB for about ten years. She met every dangers in her life with smile on her face, she embraced martyrdom happily but never submitted before the rulers and hypocratic forces. Being a well wisher of Bhutto's family, I would rather advise Ms. Bakhtwar to definitely vist fllood affected and not to lend ears to the ill-time advise of sycophants. Bakhtwar must and should go ahead with her family traditions of meeting dangers and serving people in the hours of distrerss. If ms. Bhutto were cowardice she would never visit Pakistan in 2008 to uproot tyrant dictator and finally embraced martyrdom. Bhutto's family is preserved in the annals of the history. Why to bring bad name to the family by not visiting flood affected areas?. Those advising her not to visit flood affected areas are not either sincere with the party nor with the Bhutto family. I would like to mention here that the PPP leadership used to be the party of masses as BB herself was appearing fearlessly in the public gatherings so she won hearts of peoples. what i believe personally, going and meeting with the peoples during the worst time would definately increase the credibility of the party.
