Pakistan shines at Korean Open

Pakistan athletes displayed an impressive performance at the sixth Korean Open Taekwondo Championship.

KARACHI: Pakistan athletes displayed an impressive performance at the sixth Korean Open Taekwondo Championship by securing five medals in the event that concluded on Monday. Top athletes from as many as 44 countries took part in the event.

Syed Adil Shah won a silver medal in the welterweight category while Javed Karim bagged a bronze in the lightweight category. Meanwhile, in the women’s category Najia Rasool and Aasia Batool were the medal winners for Pakistan. Rasool received a bronze in the middleweight while Batool stood third on the podium in welterweight category.

Pakistan grabbed their second silver medal by reaching the final of the team event where they went down fighting against the hosts, who won the championship by claiming the maximum number of medals.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Taekwondo Federation praised the performance of the athletes and hoped that they would also do well in future events as well.
