Strikes continue: Doctors press ransom reimbursement

QUETTA: A doctors’ strike continues in the city despite the release of eye specialist Dr Saeed Khan as his colleagues insist that the government should pay up the money which was given to kidnappers for his release. Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan Chapter President Dr Sultan Tareen demanded that cases registered against protesting doctors should be withdrawn and those responsible for the registration of these cases be brought to book. Dr Khan was kidnapped on October 16, after which PMA doctors started a strike throughout the province, including Quetta. Doctors also boycotted emergency wards while on strike, creating difficulties for patients.
