OGRA approves increase in gas prices

Ogra has sent the summary to the petroleum ministry.

ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) on Saturday approved an increase in gas prices and sent the summary to the Petroleum Ministry, Express News reported.

The price increase for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) is going to be Rs31.12 per mmbtu and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) will be Rs28.28 per mmbtu.

Ogra has sent the summary to the petroleum ministry.

The notification for this price increase will be issued after the government’s consent and will be implemented from January  1, 2013.

The petitions submitted by SNGPL and SSGC for increasing gas prices were heard in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

Ironic! The logo of OGRA as printed in the article above reads "Guarding Public Interest"! There is such lovely humour in our country if we really pay attention! :)
