A complete shutter down is being observed in areas which are dominated by the nationalist parties. Nationalists, while taking out a rally in Hyderabad, forced shops to shut down.
Public transport is at a complete stand still in the interior areas of Sindh.
Police arrested 10 people in Sukkur, while unidentified men threw a Molotov cocktail at a trawler.
Rallies are being carried out all over Sindh and petrol pumps, private schools and transportation are also shut down.
Among parties which supported the strike call by the Sindh Bachao Committee (SBC) were the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pir Pagara-led PML-Functional, Awami National Party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Jamaat-e-Islami, Jamiat-e-Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl), Sunni Tehreek, Karachi City Alliance, Punjabi Pakhtoon Ittehad and Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party among others have supported the strike called by the Sindh Bachao Committee (SBC).

G. M. Syed said in 1951 that in future Pakistan will not only be a danger for itself but also for the whole world.
Jinnah promised Syed that Sindh would remain part of a larger secular federation but Liaquat Ali Khan and co made a fool out of Jinnah by sidelining him.
SPLG system is the need of the day for Karachi . The feudals who delivered nothing to their voters in the Interior Sindh are pointing fingers to the people of Karachi .All knows Interior Sindh has become Moen jo daro ,now they want to "Qabzafy " Karachi .

All the people holding that banner in front row are what we call "Kariyee key tattoo" in our national language.
I am appalled that it is the only country in the world where illiterates like these can not understand the importance of Local Government.
I am sure they don't understand SLGO and never tried to understand it..All this is to avoid MQM having LG powers! Sheer biasness and being a citizen of Karachi I fully support this LG Ordinance and it should come into play ASAP.
@LIBERAL SINDHI
Looking at the quality of politicians interior sindh produce in recent years it is less likely sindh will prosper even after it gets independence.
I believe in all this perspective Local Government is a basic fundamental right and is an effective way of decentralizing power to the masses without creating smaller units. According to my knowledge Karachi is the only mega city in the world i.e. without any democratically elected local government. Depriving Sindh’s cities of local government will increase the feeling of alienation amongst the residents and will increase demands for smaller provinces. So I think its best way to decentralize the decisions to local bodies. It becomes more pertinent when it comes to a multi-ethnic area like Karachi. We have already witnessed Sindh under local bodies administration and this experience remained successful so why should not delegate powers to grass root level so that common masses get their due share.
I think for the first time in history of the world there is a protest against local govt system..What a country.
PPP is fast losing its popularity in the country due to worst-ever corruption, incompetence and misgovernance. The Titanic of "opportunists" is bound to sink!
@Liberal Sindhi: "....Poor decision by GM Syed to support Mr. Jinnah who did not even have representatives in Sindh assembly." . Would that mean that Bhutto (the breaker of Pakistan) was turning GM Syed's agenda into reality?
