Universal Children’s Day: Child rights event slated for Dec 1

Over 250 children from eight cities will attend the event.

LAHORE: AGHS-Child Rights Unit is organising an event on ‘Children’s Right to Participation’ on December 1 (Saturday) as part of Universal Children’s Day celebrations. AGHS spokeswoman Qudsia Majid said they were organising the event with the aim to bring out leadership qualities in children and give them confidence to speak about their rights and show their talent on a public platform. Over 250 children from eight cities. Lahore, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Faisalabad, Kasur, Sargodha, Sialkot and Swat, will attend the event. Plays, art competitions, songs are part of the celebrations. The event will be presided over by lawyer and human rights activist Hina Jilani. Dr Mehdi Hassan, the former chairman of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, will be the chief guest.
