
The Anti-Corruption Establishment, Mianwali, has registered a case against Highways Department officials and a contractor for constructing a substandard road.
Mumtaz Mohammad Khan from Piplan had submitted an application to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, stating that substandard material had been used in the road recently constructed from Nautak to Mutha Bund. Sharif had ordered the Services and Development secretary to hold an enquiry. It was proven in the enquiry that poor material had been used in the road construction.
On Khan’s complaint that the highways officials and the contractor caused a Rs64.5 million loss to the exchequer, a case has been registered against Highways Superintendent Engineer Chaudhry Manzoor Ahmed, former Executive Engineer Iftikhar Ahmed, Abdul Latif Bhatti, Gul Asghar, Mohammad Athar, Sub-divisional Officers Gul Asghar, Rana Mohammad Khalid, Amir Iqbal and Mohammad Anwar, Chief Engineer Shaukat Shaheen, Sub-engineer Khadim Hussain, Aftab Ahmed, Divisional Accounts Officer Abdul Sattar Qureshi, Nazeer Bhatti and contractor Hadayatullah.
