Schemes worth millions of rupees were in progress to increase productivity of Balochistan’s livestock sector besides introducing modern technologies, husbandry animal health and research among the livestock holders of the province.
Sources from Livestock and Dairy Department Balochistan told APP that endeavours were also being made for ensuring animal health coverage, development of dairy industry, preservation of pure breed, veterinary education and research and poverty alleviation in the province.
The contribution of the provincial livestock sector to the gross domestic product (GDP) is 11.49% while its contribution to the economy of Balochistan was over 47%, said sources, adding that the initiatives by the present government will greatly improve the performance of livestock, therefore earning more revenue for the province.
