Amin falls for career-best 281

PQA amass 675 against HBL as match heads for a draw.

PQA’s Umar Amin narrowly missed his maiden triple century as he was dismissed for 281 against HBL in the ninth-round match of the President’s Trophy yesterday.

Amin resumed the day on 236 and went onto add another 45 before getting out to part-timer Imran Farhat. His 281 came off 397 balls with two sixes and 34 boundaries. He was involved in a massive 337-run fourth-wicket stand with Khalid Latif, who scored a 293-ball 128. PQA scored 675 for six before declaring as HBL were six for no loss at close with the match heading for a draw.

In another match, KRL thrashed NBP by 10 wickets in Rawalpindi. NBP were bundled out for 151 in their second-innings after resuming on 86 for four.  Tayyab Riaz claimed four wickets, while Rahat Ali and Ali Khan bagged three wickets each. Set a target of 36, KRL raced to 39 for no loss in just 3.5 overs.

Elsewhere, ZTBL closed in on a much-needed win against UBL who were struggling at 157 for six while following-on in Islamabad. UBL were bowled out for 179 in their first-innings with Mohammad Khalil and Zohaib dismissing three batsmen each.

In another match, early blows from Wapda’s Junaid Khan left PIA reeling on 101 for four in their second-innings while chasing 355 at the Mirpur cricket stadium. Khan took four wickets to reduce to PIA to 39 for four before Faisal Iqbal stroked an unbeaten 41 while Shoaib Khan was not out on 25.

Leaders SNGPL were in a strong position against SBP as their overall lead stretched to 342 after they ended the day on 149 for two. Earlier, Bilawal Bhatti and Samiullah Niazi bagged four wickets each as SBP were bowled out for 117 in 39.3 overs.
