Symposium on judicial activism: Khosa recalls role in CJP’s restoration

Praises judiciary for taking bold steps to empower democratic institutions.

Punjab Governor Latif Khosa, and Pakistan’s High Commissioner in London Wajid Shams-ul-Hassan, were the key speakers at a symposium organised by the Forum for International Relations Development (FIRD), a UK based think-tank.

The event was titled ‘An ‘Appraisal of Judicial Activism in Pakistan’ and was a part of FIRD’s Dialogue Forum. According to a press release, Governor Khosa’s talk focused on how judicial activism has strengthened democracy in Pakistan.

He praised the judiciary for taking bold steps to empower democratic institutions and dubbed the passing of the 18th, 19th and 20th amendments historic. He reviewed the history of judicial crises in Pakistan with the audience and discussed his part in the restoration of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.
