Raisani waves iron fist at striking doctors

Health department suspended services of about 80 striking doctors for violating service rules.

QUETTA:

Balochistan Chief Minister Nawab Aslam Raisani on Tuesday asked the striking doctors to resume their duties or they would be dealt with harshly.

Talking to reporters during his visit to the Civil Hospital and Combined Military Hospital (CMH), he welcomed the doctors who resumed duties at hospitals.

Doctors who came on duty in hospitals are welcome, he said while asking the others to call off their strike unconditionally.

“All-out efforts were being made to ensure the safe and early recovery of the missing doctor,” he reiterated. On the call made by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) Balochistan chapter, doctors were on strike following the kidnapping of their colleague Dr Saeed on October 16.

Health department had suspended the services of about 80 striking doctors for violating service rules. Earlier, Raisani met with the patients and inquired after their health. He thanked the CMH administration for providing medical facilities to the patients coming from far-flung areas of the province.
