Conference: Iqbal to be remembered at GCUF

Participants from Iran, Turkey, India, England and Egypt will attend.

Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF) is holding a two-day Allama Iqbal International Conference from Thursday (November 29).


The conference is themed ‘Create your own world if you are alive’ and is being organised by the Urdu Department. Scholars from Pakistan, India, Turkey, England, Iran and Egypt will participate.

The inaugural session of the conference will be chaired by GCUF Vice Chancellor Dr Zakir Hussain at 11:00am on Thursday. The chief guest will be Dr Javed Iqbal.

Dr Tahir Taunsvi, the conference convener and Urdu Department chairman, said the second session of the conference would open at 3:00 pm.

Turkish scholar Durmish Bulgar will chair it, Maqsood Elahi Shiekh will be chief guest and Dr Shafiq Ahmad and Muhammad Sohail Umar will be guests of honour.



There will be a poetry recital on November 29 which will be presided over by famous poet Iftikhar Arif.

Poet Wasi Shah will act conduct the session while Anwar Masood, Khalid Masood, Dr Inamul Haq Javaid, Sahar Ensari, Wasim Ensari, Safdar Saleem Sial, Dr Fakharul Huq Noori,  Mansoor Afaq, Ahsan Shahid, Dr Sughra Sadaf,
Ali Asghar Abbas and Humaira Ashfaq will present poetry.

The November 30 session will be held at 10:30am with Dr Rafiuddin Hashmi in the chair. Dr Syed Muhammad Akram Ikram will be chief guest and Dr Zafar Iqbal and Dr Muhammad Fakhrul Haq Noori will be guests of honour.

The concluding session will be presided over by the vice chancellor on November 30 in which former Governor Khalid Maqbool will be chief guest while Dr Muhammad Shafiq Chauhdry and Dr Hussain Bahir will be guests of honour.

The scholars will present research papers on Allama Iqbal.
