
Eight people including four policemen were injured when assailants lobbed a hand grenade towards them in a hotel on Sunday.
Sheikh Maltoon Police Station House Officer Abdur Rauf said that he parked a police patrolling van near a small hotel in Ghalla Dher Chowk for dinner at around 8:30pm.
As the police personnel were entering the hotel, two masked men travelling on a motorbike lobbed a hand grenade towards the hotel. In the explosion, four police personnel and four civilians were injured.
The injured were taken to Mardan Medical Complex. Among these, the police personnel were identified as ASI Irshad Khan and Constables Ghani Akbar, Shakirullah and Touseef Shah while the rest were Bilal, Ibrahim, Israr Muhammad and Abbas.
Shakirullah and Shah were in critical condition and were referred to the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.
